Rio Grande River Rafting Trips

So, you've decided to experience one of the many river rafting trips offered on the Rio Grande by Big River Rafts. You know about bringing a hat, a water bottle and some soft-soled shoes or comfortable sandals that have heel straps (flip flops just aren't secure enough!). You know that if it's going to be a toasty day, you should have comfortable clothes or swimwear that will dry quickly, and you have sunscreen. And if the weather is going to be cooler, you'll need a jacket or sweater or perhaps wool clothing to really keep you comfy.

You've scanned our site, so you've had the chance to see all of the packages we offer, from peaceful for the best family style river rafting in New Mexico to a little more raucous for the ultimate that New Mexico rafting has to offer. You're even considering the Dinner Float (yum!) or maybe Steaks & Rafting to really do it right.

But we think it's worth mentioning a few cool facts about where you'll be having this great New Mexico rafting adventure.

River Rafting in New Mexico

The Rio Grande is 1,865 miles long, and the Rio Grande Gorge is the part where the River passes through 800-foot-high chasms. Part of the National Wild and Scenic River System as of 1968, the Rio Grande River is truly remarkable. The part of the river on which you'll be experiencing the best river rafting in New Mexico is near the Orilla Verde recreation area, at the bottom of the Gorge.

You'll notice when you browse the site that we offer more than New Mexico rafting. You can take advantage of fabulous mountain bike tours, rock climbing, hot air balloon rides, llama treks, moonlight floats, canyon hikes, Masseuse del Rio and more. You can even settle in for an overnight stay with our Bed & Breakfast. We've been growing since 1983, and while we've kept our groups for our river rafting trips small, we've expanded recreation options so you can make the most of your time in the area.
