We are located in Pilar, New Mexico.
Pilar sits right on the river in the bottom of the Rio Grande Gorge near the Orilla Verde recreation area, in north central New Mexico. It's just 16 miles southwest of Taos and 53 miles northeast of Santa Fe on highway 68 and junction 570. We meet you across the street at the RIO GRANDE VISITOR CENTER parking lot located between mile markers 28 and 29 on highway 68. It is a large modern building with a big parking lot.

Look for a van plainly marked BIG RIVER RAFT TRIPS. Park and lock your car here. "Yes, it is safe." We have a dry bag available for keys, watches, billfolds, small cameras, etc. It is 15 minutes from the end of the trip back to your car. You will need a hat, sunscreen, quick drying clothes, and soft soled shoes or sandals with heel straps. Although a water bottle is always nice, we carry extra and supply ice cream as a snack!
